Simon Emes (oboe)

Simon Emes was born in London in 1959 and began his musical education as a chorister at St. Pauls Cathedral. Later he studied the Oboe at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama where he won The Gold Medal in 1982. He has been Co-Principal Oboe with the Halle Orchestra, Solo Oboe with the Royal Danish Orchestra in Copenhagen, and is presently Co-Principal Oboe with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra which he joined in 1986. He has also appeared as soloist with the orchestra. As a free-lance player he has appeared as guest-principal oboe with The BBC Scottish, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, The Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.
